Unlike last year's colour trends, this year's trending colour palette is taking a more muted and understated approach. From soothing aquas and woodland browns to soft terracottas and sheer pink, 2019 is about to be dictated by mindful and spirited colours.
According to trend forecasting reports by Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, PPG Paints, Dulux and of course Pantone, here are some of the year's trendiest colours that you'll be seeing:
- Living Coral (Pantone)
The Pantone Colour of the Year is here! Louder than pink but softer than red, Pantone's 2019 'Living Coral' colour is as vibrantly soft as it gets. In addition to that, Pantone's colour of the year also serves to highlight environmental issues like the extinction of coral reefs around the world.
- Italian Clay (Dulux)
In a series of colours that promotes this year's theme of 'Wholeself' (others include 'Repair', 'Legacy' and 'Identity'), Dulux's 'Italian Clay' is a colour meant to help clear out mental clutter. As a warm neutral brown-orange that's relaxing to the eyes, this nature-inspired colour is expected to be seen in every interior.
- Elation (Sherwin-Williams)
The 'Elation' colour from Sherwin-Williams is a beautiful muted lilac that centers on promoting a calm space. At a glance, Elation appears as off-white colour but rest assured that it is in fact, a true lilac.
- Metropolitan (Benjamin-Moore)
Last year's colour for Benjamin-Moore was a bright, fiery red. This year though, it's all about the coolest grey. Meet 'Metropolitan', an understated grey with cool undertones that exudes a real balance of beauty and neutrality.
- Night Watch (PPG Paints)
Inspired by the healing powers of nature, 'Night Watch' is one of the only deeper shades on the 2019 Trending Colours. It is a deep hunter green that's almost emerald-like that creates a calming yet refreshing feeling.
- Pale Pink Satin (Benjamin-Moore)
Pastels like 'Pale Pink Satin' are the new white this 2019 - it's one of the lightest and palest shades of blush I have ever seen! Soft colours this one is set to dominate the monochromatic movement.
