'Fashion is like eating, you shouldn't stick to the same menu...'
By Kenzo Takada
Fashion Industry encompasses the art of applying designs, aesthetics and natural beauty to clothing or any product. It is affected by culture, society and its outlook and has changed tremendously over period of time. Fashion design is a specialization of humanities that cover the wide spectrum of fabrics, style, patterns, colours and trends that define the fashion of a particular era. For e.g. attires like wedding suits, ethnic dresses, jodhpuri suits, blazers, achkans, kurta, waistcoats etc. are all part of these ever-changing trends.
The Avant Garde designer Gaurav Gupta, one of the most celebrated names in the fashion industry in his interaction with students mentioned that as a designer and design student, we will always have to question the present fashion scenario and explore new. He advised design students to have a truthful conversation with themselves and to look into their inner self for creativity. One should not be influenced but aim to be an influencer and inspired the young enthusiasts to look at everything around us - be it nature, music or beautiful places help us to design.
And while talking about inspirations, he resonated the same emotion as many other creative people who find Jaipur to be culturally active land where designers can get the real perspective of heritage, regalia and versatilities in their designs. He laid emphasis on the environmental friendly organic fabrics and also the authenticity and durability of designer's work after the pandemic. To question is important as it sets the wheel of evolution…and to evolve is the very essence of fashion and design.
